Schools are meant to educatate and prepare our youth to be the best citizens that they can be. I believe that education is more than a spelling test, or a twelve minute run or know who the first person shot at the Boston Massacre was. Education is about heloing students reach their full potential in life not just school. When students graduate they should be prepared to interact with other members in the community in a positive manner. Education is about developing the skills and abilities that are necessare to become an intricate pare of a society. I feel as a teacher that is my job to get the most out of each and every students and prepare them for life after school.
I have found that competition is one of the best ways to get students motivated in a classroom. No student ever wants to hear that their friend got a better score on a test or scored more points in the basketball game than they did. We all want to be the best and this is a trait that teachers need to use to their advantage. Using competition in a healthy way will help push the students to become the best they can be all the time. Children learn by observing their peers and watching how they succeed. I believe that if incentives are given to those students who are excelling in a certain aspect others will want to follow and succeed in class. It will help push students to do better, after all if child sees their classmate getting extra credit or extra free time because they are working hard others will want to work hard as well.
I do not believe that any one teaching technique is the right technique to use when it comes to students. All students learn in different ways, some visual, some kinesthetic. I believe that all students can learn and it is the hob of the teacher to observe their students and find out which is the best way for each individual. The hard part for the teacher is to get all the different techniques into the lessons that they are teaching. If a teacher can get all the techniques into a lesson all the students will learn more efficiently.
I feel that it is my responsibility to help the students learn in the best possible way to succeed not only in school but in life as well. I feel all students can and want to learn and it is the job of the teachers to make sure all students learn to the best of their potential in all aspects of life.
