I am a double major in both Physical Education and History. My fifth grade teacher Mrs. Pullins had a lot to do with me wanting to become a history teacher. When she taught history it was always enjoyable and fun. I also realized that I knew a lot about history and liked knowing the random facts that go along with the subject. I learned later in my education from another teacher that I could make history fun and interesting to learn. Learning history needs to be an exciting subject it has to come alive for the students or they will become bored and not want to learn history. I believe if the teacher uses student interaction and gets the students active in the classroom history can be exciting. When the students participate in activities such as a debate between England and The Colonies during the American Revolution history can come alive and they can get the true feel of history.

Physical Education has always been a subject that I have always enjoyed. I have played sports throughout my entire life and have always enjoyed playing them. When I got to college I took some courses and realized that I truly enjoyed teaching children how to play sports. I believe that sports can teach a child more than just how to throw a ball. Instead sports can teach a child teamwork, fair play, how to follow rules and how to be physically fit for life. All of these characteristics that help the students become better citizens as well as students in the school.

I think the fact that I am an enthusiastic person helps me in both subjects. Mr. Farah was a teacher that truly made me want to become a teacher. He read the book "Of Mice and Men" to us and to this day I can hear his voice reading the class that book. It was the most interesting I have ever read to this day because of the way he read it. I think it is imperitive that a teacher be enthusiastic and energetic every day they come into class. The students will know if the teacher does not want to be teaching the subject . I feel that being as energetic as I am gets the students to work harder and learn more.
